Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one aspect of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) that focuses on restoring balance within the body to promote healing. This technique involves inserting fine needles into specific points in your pet’s body called “acupoints”, where nerves and blood vessels converge. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years for both humans and their animals!

One of the main conditions animals receive acupuncture for musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, intervertebral disc disease and nerve injury. It can be used for many internal medicine conditions as well including gastrointestinal, kidney/liver damage, and even seizures and cancer.

Rehabilitation Therapy

If your dog recently had surgery or has been injured, one of the best ways to improve muscle mass and hasten your pets’ recovery is with physical therapy. Dr. Richie can direct you in providing safe, muscle building exercises for your pet at home in between sessions. These exercises may range from simple sit-to-stands to more progressive activities targeting specific muscles or groups of muscles. Whether your pet has had surgery to repair a cruciate ligament and requires rehabilitation therapy, requires passive range of motion after a back injury, or needs specific stretches for muscle sprains and strains, Dr. Richie is ready to work with you to develop a unique physical therapy program for your pets’ recovery.

Geriatric Care

Geriatric Care

The Golden Age! Preventive medicine and care such as monthly heartworm/flea/tick medication, vaccines, and annual check-ups are incredibly important throughout the life of your pet. As our pets age, they become more prone to other chronic conditions and this is when we should start giving them more care.

By establishing a working relationship with your primary veterinarian, they will be performing blood work panels to check liver, kidney, and thyroid function, radiographs, ultrasounds, and other tests to make sure we catch disease processes earlier rather than later. With all these diagnostics in mind, Dr. Richie of Super Pets will be best prepared to ensure an integrative approach and as an adjunct in keeping your pet healthy and happy in the golden years of their life!

Please contact us to learn more about the caring of your senior pet. PLEASE NOTE, Super Pets does NOT offer blood tests or diagnostic tests. These have to be done at your primary veterinarian’s office prior to a consult with us.

Nutritional Counseling

Nutritional Counseling

Super Pets Mobile Veterinary Rehabilitation offers nutritional counseling for all clients! If you have any questions about your pet’s diet or would like alternative ideas or information about your pet’s nutritional needs, please contact us today. Dr. Richie is not a board certified veterinary nutritionist, but she has gained significant knowledge in the benefits of proper diet and feeding to ensure that it complements whatever life stage, disease process, and needs your pet may have!

Obesity is a common problem among pets, as it can be very easy to overfeed a cute dog or cat who knows how to beg. Being overweight is a serious problem for animals, and can cause real health problems. It can even shorten their lifespan. With proper diet and exercise, all pets should be able to meet their dietary needs and stay healthy for a longer, healthier life!
